I'm BACK

So I've noticed that after 2 weeks I start to lose interest in anything that I'm doing. It's ok though. I'm back and I'm starting at weight 144. Remember my goal is 132.. so I have still 12 lbs to lose. I've reset my goals. I'm aiming for closer goals. I would like to weigh 139.5 by the end of August!

Body Jam Class

This ain't no jazzercisin!!!

Body jam is a dance class... all hip hop dance with a few exercise moves here and there. They turn the lights down low and play music really loud. I was pumped and I was sweaty.. wait, soaked! Today I can barely bend over. The back of my legs hurt.. do you realize that is the BEST ever. That is one of my fattest parts and it hurts! hip hip hooray!

It was BS!

The whole personal trainer meeting was a bunch of bull shit. I went and did a PT test to prove I was average / overweight. He didn't even work out with me. After the assessment he tried to get me to sign up for classes with him. What a rip off! I walked away and went and did 1 hour of cardio then went home. That is just false advertisement. Free time with a personal trainer my ass.. that free time is for them to do NOTHING but give you the bmi calculator.. and we all know what that is.. AKA.. the FAT calculator. I'm 33% body fat. Your telling me almost 1/2 of my body is fat.. thats just SAD! So.. I got nothing but disappointment and pessimism from the meeting.

Appointment at 6

I have an appointment with a personal trainer at 6. When I signed up for the gym they offered 2 free sessions. I'm using 1 of them tonight. I'm scared!!!

Addicted...

Ok.. so I know that the gym is new to me. Everyone becomes obsessed with new things. So.. I've totally become obsessed with the gym. I'm pretty sure it is not a bad thing to be obsessed with the gym. Typically most people would say it is fantastic to be addicted to the gym. So, all day I've been sitting at working thinking.. .. hmm.. I wonder what I'll do at the gym tonight. I am really sore so I don't want to walk. Maybe I'll do the rowing machines or ooh the bikes in the theater room . . they are even front row in the theater room. So yeah... sad to say, I can't wait to get off work and go to the gym.
Oh, get this though, I went to the gym last night at 9:30. Here I am on my treadmill.. sweating like a fat guy at a birthday party and here walks in this skinny bitch I went to high school with... WHO just happens to be a girl I do not like. WTF. Skinny bitch got on the treadmill right in front of me. Don't you hate that. UGH.. it's ok though. Hopefully she will go back and tell all her friends she saw me at the gym. That way I don't seem like a total loser fat ass! LOL :)

I Joined the GYM!!!

I just had to do it. I would have joined American Family Fitness.. but they want you to sign up for 3 years and I'm just not ready to go that far yet. I did however join Golds gym.. with my sister. We joined as a "couple" ha. It was 128 bucks signup and processing fee and then starting in October it is 64 bucks a month.. which is 32 bucks per person.. I think thats a good deal. Thats a weeks worth of lunches.
Golds gym is pretty nice though. They have the neatest thing EVER.. they have a theater room. It is exactly like a movie theater.. dark and all.. and they have rows of elypticals, treadmills and bikes.. they play a different movie each day.. and you can actually go and watch the movie while you work out. I go in there and still use my mp3 .. I like it dark so that no one sees me struggling to get into shape.. hahaha. The only problem is that its hard to get started on the machines because you can't see.. but once you get going.. its sooo neat.
Anywho.. so I'm down to 141.5. I'm 9.5 lbs away from my goal. I'm soo excited.

Oh.. also here are my measurements ..

bust - 38
waist - 31
hips - 42
arm - 11
thigh - 22

So.... I'm hoping in a month to see some GOOD results.. especially on the tits and ass. For real.. do you see that hip to waist ratio.. SICK.. I'm such a Fat Ass.. hahaha

Hip Hip Hooray!

I'm excited. I ate like a pig over the weekend.. well.. thats an exageration I don't even think Pigs eat as much shit as I ate over the weekend. I didn't gain any weight! I didn't lose any weight.. but I didn't gain any weight. I'm so excited.. now I can just start where I left off without feeling completely guilty about my weekend :)

How Am I Doing?

I'm down to 142. That is a total of 4 lbs. I have 10 lbs to go!!!

I'm now in phase 2 of my Atkins Plan. I can eat berries, seeds, nuts, low carb bread, low carb wraps, low carb snacks. They are all actually pretty good.

I estimate to be down to 132 by the end of summer. I'm in no rush.. I want to do this the right way.

Crab Cake Recipe

1 can of crab
1 egg
2 handfuls of parmesan cheese (or whatever makes it thick)
1 tsp mayo
1/4 cup red bell peppers chopped
Butter or Olive Oil for frying

These were the BOMB!!! They had about 2 carbs. That was just for the red pepper. Had I left that out they would be 0 carbs.

Seriously though...........

This diet is killing me. I really want to lose some weight so I'm pushing it.. I'm pushing it until I can't push anymore. Seriously though.. can I just get a bowl of cereal, a cheeseburger, some french fries, macaroni and cheese?
I have 1 more week of nothing but veggies, meats and cheeses. Next week I can start adding berries and nuts. I'm so excited to eat berries!!!

On a positive note: Last night my sister found low carb ice cream. It was awesome!

My Favorites

I really enjoy pepperjack cheese. This cheese has <1 carb.

I make my own... using the bagged coleslaw, mayo, 1 splash milk, white vinegar, and splenda. It tastes almost the same! Total 4 carbs for a cup.

No Sugar.. no Carbs! I also add some whip cream.. thats about 2 carbs.

Day 2 No Carbs

I was very proud of myself. I did a great job of avoiding carbs yesterday.

I had a total of 15 carbs yesterday. (You are allowed 20 net carbs per day).

It didn't seem too difficult. I'm hoping today will be the same.

Argument turned to Diet

My sister : So, I think I'm going to do the No Carbs diet.

Me : Well, thats retarded. You know you can't do that for very long.

My sister : Well, my friend Sarah lost 5 lbs in 1 week. She says that it isn't very hard.

Me : Well, I've done it before. You do lost a lot of weight quick, but as soon as you eat a piece of bread you gain your weight back.

My sister : I don't care. I want to try it. What is it going to hurt ya know.

Me : Ok, I'll do it with you.

I know this could possibly be a stupid mistake.. however, I tried Atkins back in the day before I discovered a grocery store full of vegetables. When I last did no carbs I pretty much ate porkrhinds sp? and hamburger meat.

So, today starts day 1 of no carbs. I figure I'll give it a shot. What is the worst that could happen... I'd end up here where I started?

To be on the safe side.. I've gotten myself some vitamin supplements (they go in your drink) They have 100% vitamin C, Vitamin B12, Niacin, B6 and some acids.

I've also included a lot of fish and vegetables.

So.. we will see.

I Screwed My Weekend UP SON!!!!

Yeah, so I ate everything.

I went to WV this weekend. I went to celebrate my bff's birthday :) My ride TO WV wasn't terrible. I didn't eat any fast food. I did however, eat a hamburger that evening. We grilled out.. so all in all.. Friday wasn't too bad.
Saturday, Sunday and Monday - they were absolutely HORRIBLE.. Terrible, disgusting, humiliating! Sunday I ate breakfast at this place called Tutors Biscuit World... I got what they call the "big tator" its hashbrowns with melted cheese and bacon and they serve it with a biscuit - I ate it! I also ate fast food that evening. We ate taco bell at like 11:00 at night.. oh, wait and thats after the 4 beers I had. So.. ruined! Sunday I woke up and had toast and mac n cheese for breakfast. I then had a sandwich and some crackers.. then dinner - Chinese buffet..
Monday.. I had a value meal "chicken tendercrisp sandwich" and fries on the way home. I then had a hot dog and chips when I got home and then speghetti and a piece of Chocolate Pie. OMG - YUK. Let's just say this morning I woke up and I feel like I gained about 5 lbs. My woman curse is coming tomorrow.. so I feel like a total nasty bloated house.. who hasn't gotten any kind of exercise and ruined the 4 lbs she did lose. It took me 2 weeks to lose about 5 lbs.. and 4 days to put it back on.
I'm not giving myself any excuses. I screwed up and didn't care about my body all weekend :(

So, today I started my day off with a nice warm cup of green tea - splenda to sweeten and a bowl of cereal. I will be having a can of soup for lunch (low sodium soup) and for dinner I'm thinking something small also. I also plan on gettin my walk on after work. I need to sweat the nastiness out of my body!

I hope everyone else did good this weekend.

Crippled By Cravings

Crippled by Cravings
Why am I driven to eat junk food?
By Martica Heaner, M.A., M.Ed., for MSN Health & Fitness

Q: I normally eat healthy foods but sometimes I’m hit by cravings. I end up succumbing to the candy and fattening foods that I know I shouldn’t have. Why is this and what can I do about it?

A: We’re driven to eat by more than just hunger pangs. And for many people, it’s hard to resist the lure of fast food, sweets and snacks.

Some people attribute cravings for certain foods such as meat, for example, to the body’s instinctual need for certain nutrients, like protein, that it is lacking. This has not been proven, and it seems unlikely that urges for what people most commonly crave—foods like potato chips, french fries, sodas and candy—are signs that the body is low in saturated fat, salt, sugar and artificial flavorings and preservatives!

The psychological stimulus to eat can be powerful enough to override your pure physical needs. If you’re with a group of friends having dinner, for example, it’s easy to eat more than you might alone because of the social aspects of sharing a meal. And who, when they are already full, hasn’t made room for “a little more” when a tantalizing dessert arrives.

Although food has not been proven to be addictive in the same way as cigarettes, there do seem to be strong impulses to desire certain processed foods. Can you imagine craving a red bell pepper in the same way that you might yearn for a Coke, a donut or ice cream?

Sweets and fats may be especially tempting because humans have innate preferences for them (and some people may have stronger genetic predispositions than others.) An attraction to these highly palatable foods makes sense in terms of survival because these foods tend to have more energy (calories.) Of course, in an environment where food is abundant, this tendency can lead to overeating. Some people worry that snack food manufacturers capitalize on this weakness and purposefully develop foods to be addictive by researching and concocting products with specific ratios of fat, salt and sugar that are hard to resist. (Millions of dollars spent on advertising also trigger your lust for these foods.)

There is also evidence that some people perceive certain foods to be a reward, which may increase a craving for those foods. Brain scans have shown that some obese people experience greater activity in specific areas of the brain that are related to reward and addiction.

Whether this is purely biologically driven or something learned is unclear.

But a fondness for foods can develop from events associated with them. A child whose family had pleasurable Sunday morning breakfasts with pancakes and donuts may grow up and associate these items with the warm, feel-good sensations they may arouse. Someone who is an emotional eater and seeks food for comfort when upset may be evoking a similar response.

Women often report an increase in pre-menstrual cravings. During the week or so before your period, estrogen levels drop and the body uses a few hundred extra calories, which may result in more snacking. Women who experience the PMS-related blues may also be drawn to high-carb treats that boost brain serotonin levels that can improve mood.

Of course, a highly likely explanation for cravings is that you simply need more energy. If you’re not fueling your body in regular intervals, you may be driven by a need to eat more calories (and the most easily available and easily digestible items are going to be especially tempting). To keep these spontaneous calorie infusions in check, avoid skipping breakfast, and eat something every three or four hours. Snacking on nuts is a good way to stave off cravings since they are not only nutritious, but also very filling.

When you do experience cravings, rather than fight them and deny yourself (a psychological scenario that can make you want the food even more), go for a healthy snack first, as a filler, and then, if you still feel the need, eat some of the craved food.

Eating more foods high in protein such as animal foods, dairy, nuts, grains and beans, as well as fewer processed carbs and more high-fiber foods such as veggies, fruit, nuts and beans may help keep you better satiated so that you’re less prone to carnal indulgences.

And don’t worry. Even if you do eat more than you’d like on occasion, as long as you are physically active and eating nutritious meals most of the time, you shouldn’t gain weight, since fluctuations in energy intake over the course of the month will all balance out.

Death by Cheeseburgers....

If you diet for a week.. eating mostly salads, grilled chicken and fruit. Do you think Chips with guacamole/salsa, a hot dog, some potato salad, fruit and then a hamburger for dinner could cause you to get sick?

I think it made me sick :( Maybe it was the shift in different calories with added grease? All I know is that Saturday night I was (whats a nice word for terribly) ill! My mom thinks it was the heat. I did swim for about 3 hours with Roxanna and Tim. Maybe it was the heat.. but I'm blaming the food. So.. I enjoyed my splurge day until about 7:30 pm... then I had a night from hell.

Sunday I barely ate.. I was scared!!! Sorry I missed your dinner Erin :(

“Why I love women’s bodies”
By Christine M. Coppa
Tall, short, plump or petite, one thing is universal—no matter what a woman’s shape, there’s a man out there who’ll appreciate it! To prove our point, listen to what these guys have to say, and feel your confidence soar… no matter what your body type.

The pleasure of plus

Boyish bodies rock!
“I’m not lusting after the classic Playboy centerfold. My girlfriend is a 32A, and I love when she goes braless—especially in a clingy tank-top.”
– Dan Cooke, 24, Asotin, WA

Muscles, schmuscles…
“My girl’s middle is soft and luscious and every time she complains about it, I hug her belly. I love that part of her body best—it’s so womanly.”
– Roger Abrams, 31, Browning, MO

Short and sweet
“Everyone thinks tall models are so glamorous, but my fiancĂ©e is just five feet tall. It’s so adorable when she stands on her tippy-toes to kiss me.”
– Josh Cooper, 29, New York, NY

On the lean and narrow
“I’ve dated women of all shapes, sizes and races. I’m engaged to a tomboy with narrow hips and pin-thin legs. It’s all good!”
– Josh Wood, 31, Houston, TX

When thin isn’t in
“I used to date a dieter. She obsessed over everything she ate and was depressed every single time she looked in the mirror. My new girlfriend loves to eat and bake. She’s not thin or heavy. She’s healthy, and I’m happy!”
– Matt Magino, 29, Brick, NJ

Bathing beauty
“I met my current girlfriend last summer. She’s plus-size, but was romping around on the beach in a bikini. There was something very confident and free in the way she moved. She didn’t cover up or hide anything, and there was this fresh air about her that I really fell for.”
– Anthony Douglas, 28, Mission Viejo, CA

Christine M. Coppa is adjusting to her softer, post-baby body. She writes for Glamour.com.

Oh yeah......

My mom told me this morning that it looks like my stomach is getting smaller! Way to go MOM.. shes the most critical person I know.. so I know she is telling the truth. I have even more motivation now :)

Wednesday Date Night

We went to Sakuras last night. I don't think I did horrible... I had about 5 shrimp dipped in that yum FAT sauce. I then had a few fried veggies and about 3 bites of fried rice. Luckily my stomach has been shrinking and I can't eat as much.. so I was stuffed.

Oh and I almost forgot

Thank you Roxanna for talking me down from the ledge yesterday. I almost ate a miniature butterfinger. I know right.. its miniature. Every calorie counts though.

Thanks BFF :)

Dinner at Vinny's

I love Vinny's Italian Grill.. always have, always will. However, there is almost nothing on that menu for fatties tryin to slim.

So yesterday my parents offered to buy us food. Sounds good I say.. let me go look at the menu to see what I can eat that is low cal. First off, Vinny's doesn't offer a nutrional menu.. so I was blindly choosing something that felt low cal.

Italians are fat. They have to be.. how in the world can someone have a menu like that and not be!!! Vinny's sells a few fish dishes, but they are served over pasta. I doubt that is whole wheat pasta. So.. I skipped the fish. Vinny's has salads... but I had a salad for lunch, so I skipped the salad. Last Veggie sub I had tasted like crap.. so I skipped the veggie sub.

drum roll.... my decision. I decided to go with the club sub. I skipped the mayo and dropped the cheese. I'm sure the bacon wasn't fantastically calorized to fit in my budget.. but a little fat never killed anyone. I think the mayo and cheese probably dropped about 300 calories. I had 1/2 of my sub and a handful of onion rings (bad.. I know) but yesterday I had a bagel for breakfast and a grilled chicken salad for lunch.. and nothing else. So I felt it was alright.

Don't go to vinny's if your dieting. I like to go to applebees and panera bread. These 2 places are the best at serving up good portion sized meals with low calories. Applebees has an entire WW menu section that lists calories. I'm going to eat there next.

Night Eaters

WebMD Health NewsReviewed by Gary D. Vogin, MDFeb. 12, 2002 -- Find yourself raiding the refrigerator in the middle of the night? Turns out that it may be your body's response to stress that has gone awry -- compelling you to eat when you're not even really hungry.

It's not exactly clear how many people have night eating syndrome. Estimates are around 1%-2% of adults, but some have suggested up to a quarter of people who are overweight by at least 100 pounds eat this way.

Night eaters typically have little or no appetite for breakfast. They eat more than half of their daily food after dinner but before breakfast and are often upset about how much was eaten the night before.

Night eaters feel tense, anxious, upset, or guilty while eating and at night. They have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep and often wake frequently to eat. Night-eating syndrome involves continual eating throughout evening hours. This eating produces guilt and shame, not enjoyment.

Night eating syndrome is currently not an official eating disorder. Previous research has indicated that it may be related to a disruption in your body's 24-hour clock -- called the circadian rhythm.

Another main regulator in your body is a hormone system called the HPA axis, which also coordinates many of your body's functions -- including its response to stress. The association between these two systems is not well understood, so researchers wanted to see if a problem with the HPA axis might also be behind night eating syndrome.

Lead researchers Grethe S. Birketvedt and colleagues studied five women with night eating syndrome. The women consumed over 50% of their daily food after 8 p.m. and woke up at least once during the night to eat. Their hormone levels produced by the HPA axis were compared to women who weren't night eaters.

The study results are featured in the February issue of American Journal of Physiology - Endocrinology and Metabolism.

During the seven-day study, the women identified as night eaters woke up more than three times per night, on average. The comparison group did not wake up at night to eat.

During the study, all of the women were given a hormone to stimulate their HPA axis. But in the night eaters, their cortisol levels didn't go as much as the comparison group.

The results suggest that night eaters have an abnormal stress response caused by a hormone abnormality in their HPA axis, according to the researchers.

Plus, they say that the altered sleep and appetite pattern may be explained by this abnormal hormone response. Several other eating disorders, such as obesity, anorexia, and bulimia, have also been linked to abnormalities in the HPA axis

My friends and I used to joke because I have this problem. Now the more I read the less funny I think it is. I hear that I can take an antidepressent and this will help. Question is.. do you think a Dr. will take me seriously?

New Blog...........

So Cindy Lou and I disgust.. wait, discussed a diet today <-------haha. She had a great idea.. Start a blog. I blog on a regular.. well, lately not so regular basis about crap. So, this blog should be easier, I can talk about food and my addiction to it.

So.. to start. Ugh.. my weight - 146 lbs. What am I supposed to weigh - 104-132. So, overweight I am!!! I'm going to get down under 132 if it is the last thing I do.

Do you ever try and put on pants that fit you last month.. or a shirt you wore last summer and it feels tight and icky.. yeah I've been going through that the past couple of months. I am disgusted by my skin to say the least!

So on Friday, I started my diet. Also known as a non-diet. AKA - eating healthy, watching portions and calories and trying to stick to the food chart. Which BTW if you go by the food pyramid.. you know your practically eating all day. So far so good. I haven't had any "oops" and I think my stomach is shrinking because I'm getting fuller faster.

I guess my reasoning in starting this blog (other than getting the idea from Cindy) is to help you girlies who also want to lose weight and to help myself stay on track. My goal in this blog is to track my weight loss and talk about techniques and recipes and hopefully get some feedback on the good, the bad and the ugly! AKA (Roxanna you see my ass.. keep telling me how big it is) LOL :)

So.. I guess we will call this day 1
cereal for breakfast, nice big salad for lunch, and soup is for dinner. My typical days consist of about 1200-1400 calories. I read something online where it asked my age, height and weight and it said that I usually burn about 1450 calories per day. So.. I've been eating less than that and adding small exercises here and there... such as swimming. My apartment pool has opened so I've been swimming about 15 laps a day. (which in all is about 30 minutes). I've also been trying to take my pup charlie for walks in the evenings and situps here and there. Have I seen an improvement yet? nah, not really.. I mean, its only been 3.5 days. However, I will say that I have a problem with eating late at night. If I eat late at night.. like 10 pm or later.. my stomach ALWAYS hurts like hell in the morning. Well, when I don't eat past 7.. then my stomach doesn't hurt in the mornings. It's such a great feeling to feel good in the morning.

Any suggestions on how to increase my water intake? I hate water.. can we make it into some sort of game? like, Jenn you drink 8 glasses of water a day for 30 days.. you win a trip to the bahamas! ha.. then I'd be a drinking fool. <------ just so you know, I went to type fool and I typed Food.. ridiculous.

Well.. thats all for now. I'm hoping that I can write everyday.. maybe during my "craving" hours.. which are around 10 am (1 hour before lunch) or 10 pm (right before bed).. sooo.. Good luck to the ladies who are dieting.. and good luck to me :)
Death by Cheeseburgers, Cheesecakes and
Cheesesteaks!
